Mission/Plan
The Club has a mission statement and an associated 5-year plan, the current one running from 2019 - 2024, which was developed at the time that the club was in the process of creating a new clubhouse. A new five year plan is being developed in 2024.
Mission Statement
- To provide the best club yacht racing in Scotland and increase the number of competitive boats sailing at Port Edgar.
- To increase the number and diversity of members of PEYC
- To encourage the development of members at all levels.
- To support the local community in South Queensferry.
- To Develop partnerships and support for disabled and disadvantaged people
The 5-year Plan has a five themes, each having specific aims targeting the mission

1 People

Increase Membership
Increase junior membership and participation | Bringing more people, and particularly young people, into sailing is key to the future of the club | PEYC now offers free dinghy racing opportunities to PEW juniors. Our links with PEW mean PEYC juniors can obtain dinghy hire and tuition at reduced costs. | |
Increase Membership Increase the female, 30-50 year old age range and family membership | Growing membership will support our vision and develop and highlight the social aspects of the club | Run additional BBQ races in 2019 and develop these into sociable Sundays. This is seen as a good introduction to the club, racing, the social aspects of the club and a good shop window to promote the club on social media. | |

2 Participation
Disability participation To provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sailing | There are opportunities for physically disabled to sail dinghies, but limited yacht and keel boat options. PEYC aim to include all abilities. | Continue with support for AOTW / Fife Sailability and improve marketing of these access routes to sailing for the disabled community. | |

Collaboration Develop a closer partnership with Port Edgar Watersports (PEW) | PEW provide RYA approved training for dinghy and keelboat sailing and are located next to us at Port Edgar | PEYC and PEW have agreed links for 2019 :- PEYC members can obtain discounts on boat hire and courses from PEW. PEW customers can get a significant amount of free sailing with PEYC. | |
Collaboration Maintain and improve relationship with Queensferry Rowing Club | Aids the integration of diverse groups into the PEYC hub. Queensferry Rowing club has wide range of participant, and Dragons comprise those that have been affected by breast cancer. | Affirm the relationship with the Queensferry Rowing club and encourage PE Dragons to take affiliated membership and access to clubhouse and safety boat. | |
Collaboration Build on relationships with Fife Sailability | Widens access to disabled, disadvantaged and students | Continue work with FS. Work with PEW and their active schools provision to allow access to competitive sailing at PEYC. Provide better marketing to universities for hire of club 707s and participation in race events | |

4 Facilities
Community To provide a clubhouse accessible to all, fit for purpose and in good repair. | It will provide a base for all water based activities, a venue for training and a social hub for the both the club and the local community | Secure a long term lease on an enlarged site for the new clubhouse. Develop a proposal, secure funding and build it. |
Community Catering | There is need for snacks on race days and this is throughout most of the year 9 months. | Negotiate with existing supplier(s) and/or neighbouring businesses to ensure there is catering provision in the new clubhouse. |
5 Governance
Governance Maintain a strong committee and involve members in the running of the club. | Leadership is required to make the club work | Develop plans to involve members not just on sailing days but in other club activities such as events/regattas, membership/recruitment and social media. To ensure the club is attractive to new members, especially younger social media- savvy generations. |
Succession Encourage volunteers who will take the club forward and be the next generation of leaders in the club | Raises ability levels in the club and the standard of racing | Seek the assistance of more club members the most skilful sailors in the club in developing others. Promote what is available. Display a progression/development route/pathways flow chart on the Clubs web site to ensure members and potential members can see the development opportunities potentially available. |
