Loan Boats
We have four club dinghies available for loan whenever there is organised dinghy sailing and safety cover is available. The boats may be booked through the Booking System. All dinghies are free to use by club members, but are only available when there is a rib in attendance on an organised dinghy event.
Booking etiquette says that only one booking can be held in advance so the dinghies are not monopolised. However if you want to enter a race series speak to the Dinghy Coordinator to arrange a booking sequence.
Laser
We have two Laser,s the ubiquitous single hander, with either a full rig or a radial rig.
Magno
We have a Topper Magno, a 1 or 2 person dinghy.
The Magno can be rigged with main only, main and jib, or as a three sail boat with an asymetric gennaker. Topper supply rigging instructions (see below) but note that on our boat, as the jib furler is better at tangling the halliard than furling the jib, the jib is hoisted normally and doesn't roll away when the spinnaker is flying. This also means that when its not in use, the jib is kept in its bag, in the boat, rolled head to foot. Its not out in the open, on the furler, rolled luff to leech. Also the boat may be taken out as a two sail boat under normal booking conditions, but speak to the Dinghy Coordinator first before taking the spinnaker.
Wanderer
We have a Wanderer, newly acquired in June 2026
The wanderer was designed by Ian Proctor in August 1978. Ian's principal objective was to introduce a robust, safe and versatile dinghy which was relatively easy for two people to launch and recover, a role it fulfils admirably. Ours has roller furling on the genoa and slab reefing on the mainsail.
Rigging brief to follow - yes its that new to us
