Cruising Events
PEYC has a vibrant cruising section and aim to get people out on the water on a weekly basis. A number of Port Edgar yacht owners get involved in the cruising activity, offering crewing opportunities to non-boat owning members. We take people with all levels of experience, but stress that we are not a formal yacht training school. Yacht cruising is a sociable activity, and the weekly club sessions are a great way for members to experience different types of sailing boat and meet new people. We have set out our principles in more detail in our Cruising Charter.
The cruising group sails regularly on a Thursday. Interested members are normally emailed at the beginning of the week and asked to note their interest for the coming Thursday and they will be allocated to a boat subject to availability.
For the coming season there will be additional opportunities to sail on Sunday afternoons. This is a good time to socialise at the Clubhouse as it coincides with the regular racing events at the Club. it is hoped that some of the racing boats will be able to join the social cruising very fourth Sunday when they'll have a break from their regular racing events.
It is also planned to visit other sailing clubs on the Forth throughout the season, however, most of the other ports are tidal, so these visits will have to be timed over high tide at the host venue.
Planned events will be posted on the Club Calendar page and will be free and available to book for all club members.
