Kelpie Cup and Three Bridges Cruising Muster

30th May

PEYC invites Forth based yachts to join us in the Kelpie Cup Race and Three Bridges Muster , followed by a BBQ and evening social at the PEYC clubhouse in Port Edgar. A limited number of subsidised visitor berths will be available in the marina on Friday & Saturday nights and, if there is sufficient demand, a RIB taxi service will be provided by prior arrangement for yachts anchoring overnight in Queensferry Bay to the east of Port Edgar.

Kelpie Cup Race:

This will be a yacht race of about 3-hours starting from Port Edgar, rounding a Forth Ports navigation mark to the west and returning to finish at Port Edgar. The Kelpie Cup, gifted by Scottish Canals, will be presented to the overall winner, with separate prizes for FYCA Div-1 (<975 handicap) and FYCA Div-2 (>=975 handicap). Yachts will start in four handicap groups at staggered times, such that the whole fleet should reach the west mark at around the 15:25 BST High Water and have tidal assistance on both legs. To achieve this, the start times and the west mark must be selected on the day, depending on wind strength & direction, and will be broadcast to competitors on VHF.

Three Bridges Muster:

As an alternative to racing, yachts can join in a flotilla cruise going west with the flood tide from Port Edgar and, if the weather conditions permit, perhaps landing at the restored jetty of Culross Harbour or mooring up at Blackness and taking the Blackness YC ferry ashore, before returning for the evening BBQ at PEYC.

Berthing

PEYC has negotiated with Port Edgar Marina to access a number of subsidised spaces on the pontoons. Boats will be given a 10% discount off the standard rate ( £4.00 per metre per night  Minimum length 6.1m 20 ft)  and a £40 subsidy from PEYC and FYCA. Currently only 15 subsidised berths are available but negotiations are ongoing for more. Boat owners should request a berth with the marina and be prepared to show evidence of insurance. A form will be available at the event to claim the berthing subsidy.

Yachts may also anchor in Queensferry bay and a water taxi will be provided to convey crew between the marina and their boat on Saturday and on Sunday morning.

BBQ

There will be a barbeque on Saturday evening after sailing. Tickets will be £10 and can be purchased at the club bar on the evening.

The Kelpie Cup Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions will be published in early May.
