Sailing Theory Refresher

Blair Scott of XP at SeSailing https://www.xpatsea.com has agreed to provide some winter weekend theory refresher days again.

The goal is to help you improve your sailing skills and experience so you can tackle the waves and  water with confidence. Blair aims to provide experienced guidance at every stage of your sailing career, you will find that developing and levelling up is easy.

The plan is to run two sessions  (24th January and 8th February)  based on Day Skipper topics then a third day (15th February) which will move on to Coastal Skipper topics.  Please only book on the third day if you have also attended one of the earlier days or you are very familiar with the Day Skipper material.

Day Skipper topics:

• Basic tidal curves (times and heights)
• Dead Reckoning
• Tidal Stream sources
• Estimated Positions
• Course to Steer

Coastal Skipper/Yacht Master topics:

• Secondary port calculations
• Compound Course to Steer (multi hour plots)
• Running fixes
• Weather & strategy
• 60NM+ passage plans & pilotage
