Practicing and Learning

Port Edgar Yacht Club is affiliated to the RYA, but is not an RYA Training Centre.  For RYA courses, please take a look at our neighbours keelboat courses - Port Edgar Watersports (PEW) who run a range of RYA courses and offer discounts to PEYC members.

We do however run a busy programme of activities all aimed at teaching, learning and improving across many aspects of sailing.  These range from mentored sessions, where you can go for a sail in one of our Hunter 707 keelboats or our 33ft Ronautica sloop "Eurobo" accompanied by an experienced helm, through guided Theory and Practice Sessions, Sunday Morning Racing Practice and 707 keelboat mentored sessions.  For the first time in 2024, we hope to run an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) course run by a qualified external provider using "Eurobo".  We occasionally also run courses on Yacht Race Management in conjunction with other Forth Yacht Clubs.

All the above provide members with the opportunity to practice and learn about sailing at a reasonable cost, either just for the fun of it or  to help build confidence and ability either before or after a formal RYA or other course.
