707 Mentored Sessions

We run at least 4 mentored 707 sessions each week from April to September and sometimes more if there is demand. See the Calendar for more detail and select "Mentored Sessions".

These sessions are mainly intended to help you improve your sailing. If you have never sailed before then you should consider signing up for a Keelboat Course at Port Edgar Watersports. They use the same type of boat as us so once you have attended one of their courses you will be in a good position to join in our sessions and join the club. Alternatively sign up for our Thursday evening cruises which start in early May.

The purpose of these mentored sessions is to enable you to meet other people, give you more experience and help you learn how to improve your practical sailing abilities. Each session has 4 places on each boat and the 5th space is for one of our members who has experience to mentor you and your colleagues.  As one of four allowable activities before becoming a paid up club member, we do offer non-members the opportunity to book one "taster" session before they join.

The Sunday morning racing mentored sessions are focussed on racing manoeuvres around marks and sail trimming. Even if you don't fancy racing these sessions can be highly focussed ways of improving your skills. However, you need to develop a certain level of competence to participate usefully in these sessions. Ask your mentor whether they think you will benefit or use the email link below.

If you are keen to learn to helm and skipper a boat then you can be assessed by our mentors in these sessions and as result become accredited to hire one of our boats.

We can sometimes add another club boat to the session as well if we can find a mentor to run the session. If you have any questions or find you are waitlisted then email peyc.mentoring@gmail.com to explore whether we might be able to accommodate you with another boat.
