Photo Competition

The results are in. The judges' comments are: 

We enjoyed reviewing the pictures and the memories they evoked of last summer's sailing. There was a wide ranging set of images which we think reflects the breadth of experience and knowledge of our members.

• First: Spinnakers by Hamish Rodger.  Spinnakers are always photogenic, and we liked the composition with the dominant foreground image leading the viewer eye into the centre of the picture.  The lovely light on the clouds puts the finishing touch to a great photo. We unanimously chose this as our number one.
• Second: Bridge Dolphin Series 4 by Niall Dickson.  We were blessed with lots of visits from the dolphins this year which resulted in lots of interesting photos.  Loved the way it is given context by framing the jumping dolphin in the arch of the bridge.  And you managed to keep the horizon straight.
• Third: Bianca by Richard Quin. Sparkling sunlight on a bow wave.  What's not to like? We felt it conveyed a great sense of movement.  Well captured!
